About

One person. Three decades of getting infrastructure right.

HackTrader is built and operated by a single engineer with thirty years of shipping systems that have to work — for traders, for hundreds of millions of users, for businesses that don't get to be down.

Three decades shipping infrastructure at consumer scale. The thinking

Why a visualization tool, and why now.

The products in this space mostly try to do your thinking for you. HackTrader doesn't.

Three decades around traders, platforms, and operators have taught me something specific: the people who do this work for a living don't want arrows on a chart. They want an honest read of what the tape is currently showing — correlation regime, level proximity, volume regime — and the room to draw their own conclusions from that.

That's what HackTrader is. A correlation radar that tells you what your basket is actually doing. Levels and channels that mark where the tape has been reacting. Volume context that shows whether the move is conviction or drift. It describes what is currently visible in the data, not what is about to happen — because that part can't be honestly automated, and the products that pretend otherwise have been steadily separating retail traders from their money for as long as I've been working in this industry.

I built it as a single operator on purpose. The tool, the infrastructure, the support email — same person. No black-box team behind a CMS, no "AI signal engine" hiding broken assumptions. Just one engineer with the resume to take it seriously, putting an honest instrument in front of people who already know how to use one.

The corporate part

HackTrader is operated by Penguins LLC, a California software studio founded by Jayson Hawley. The studio is the legal entity behind the product — useful for taxes, contracts, and Stripe — but HackTrader is its own brand and is intended to remain that way.
